FAQ About Hometechs
What is a bidet?
A bidet is a fixture for cleansing the exterior excretory organs after toilet use.

What is the Feel Fresh Bidet N' Wash Hygiene System?
The Feel Fresh™ bidet is a toilet seat attachment that replaces a conventional toilet seat, and includes two bidet nozzles for cleaning both men and women. This innovative addition to your conventional toilet combines the sanitary function of a bidet, with the comfort of a heated water supply and heated seat.

The Feel Fresh™ bidet offers exceptional value at a competitive price. The water pressure and the temperature (of the seat and the water) of each bidet nozzle are adjustable. Built-in thermostats and a memory system control the temperature and pressure precisely to prevent excessive heating or harm to you or the bidet. With lighted displays and soft-touch buttons placed just where the right hand falls, the control panel is elegantly simple to use – even at night.

The bidet has two devices to prevent back-flow, so pressure leaks and water runoff problems are prevented. In addition, the durable plastic is germ-resistant, and the lid and seat are hydraulic for soft, quiet, closing and to prevent harm to you, the bidet, or the toilet basin.

Is the bidet difficult to clean or maintain?
The Feel Fresh™ bidet nozzles are fully retractable and self-cleaning, and the seat and lid are germ-resistant polymers, easy to clean with a damp cloth. Abrasives, benzenes, and acid or alkaline detergents are never necessary, and will scratch or discolor your bidet. There is no maintenance required on the Feel Fresh™ bidet.
Is the Feel Fresh Bidet difficult to install?
The Feel Fresh™ bidet is a simple three-step installation: attach to the toilet basin just like the old toilet seat; attach water line through our adapter (included); and plug in. Instructions are included with your bidet, and are also available in our website. Further plumbing assistance may be helpful, and installation can be done very quickly.

Does the installation require tools or a plumber?
Most owners install it themselves – it only requires simple hand tools. But for liability reasons we strongly recommend that you consult a professional plumber or electrician.

It's really simple – loosen the two mounting bolts on your old toilet seat and remove it. Your Feel Fresh™ bidet  bolts into those same two mounting holes. Then we supply, in the box, a water line junction fitting that threads right in to the water line leading to your toilet water tank. The junction valve and connection hose are included with the Feel Fresh™ bidet .

For electricity, you should plug it into a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlet. Many people don't have a socket near the toilet and they either run an extension cord or have a new GFCI outlet installed behind the toilet.

Basic tools, such as a wrench, may be needed to remove your existing seat, and install the Feel Fresh bidet™ tubing. A plumber can be helpful, but is not necessary.

Is an electrical outlet needed?
It depends on your bathroom setup. An outlet is necessary within four feet of the unit (the length of the power cord). Your electrician can install an outlet, if one does not exist within four feet of the bidet.

Is it dangerous to have water and electricity together?
The Feel Fresh™ bidet takes every precaution to prevent risks. Our molded plastic does not conduct electricity, and a built-in ground protects users from the risks of electrical shock. The circuit board of the bidet is protected, and the casing is waterproof to prevent accidental water exposure (for example, during cleaning).

What if I need to install the bidet in my next home?
The Feel Fresh™ bidet can be easily removed without damage and installed exactly as the first time. But it may also enhance the attraction and resale value of a home for sale.

Does the Feel Fresh bidet come complete to install?
Yes. The Feel Fresh™ bidet comes complete, with the water supply adapter and line, and two bolts for connecting it to a toilet. There is nothing more to buy, ever.

Do doctors recommend the use of bidets?
Yes. Doctors recommend the bidet as a primary treatment for hemorrhoids, rashes, anal fissures and anorectal itching. Some physicians advise their female patients to wash their genitals with a bidet every time they change a feminine pad to maintain ideal cleanliness. It's also suggested for women recovering from childbirth, patients recovering from colon-rectal surgery and the disabled who, for whatever reason, can no longer wipe.

How do I know if my bowl is round or elongated?
Older or basic toilets are round – the inside of the toilet bowl is usually about 11 inches around. More modern or deluxe toilets have an elongated bowl that is about 2 inches longer than it is wide… it's a noticeable difference. If you're still wondering, you can measure from the two mounting bolts at the seat hinge, to the very front of the toilet bowl. That measurement will be about 16 1/2 inches if the bowl is round, and 18 1/2 inches if your bowl is elongated.

How does the Feel Fresh Bidet actually function?
What actually happens?
When you press the "cleanse" button, a wand, about the size and shape of a fat pencil (that was previously hidden under the seat) automatically extends, washes itself, and then sprays a carefully aimed aerated stream of water for a few seconds, or until you touch the "stop" button. Then the wand rinses itself off again, and it retracts, out of the way again.

Does anything touch me?
No. The only thing that touches you is water ...nothing else.

How do I know when I am clean?
The engineers have been perfecting the Feel Fresh™ bidet for years. They have plenty of research on exactly what it takes. If you have any doubts, you can always press the cleanse button again or check with toilet paper.

How does the dryer work?
Very much like a gentle blow dryer for your hair. The time and temperature are adjustable for your convenience.

Can I flush the toilet "normally' with a Feel Fresh™ bidet installed?
Yes, although the water supply for the Washlet and the toilet tank is the same, there is plenty of water for both. You can use the Feel Fresh™ bidet and flush the toilet at the same time, without any problem whatsoever.

BIDET IS....
Bidet ( bee-dáy) is a personal cleansing method utilizing a stream of water, which is more hygienic and beneficial to the use of toilet paper.
The word bidet was first used in the 213th century to refer to the pet ponies kept by the French royalty. During the 1213th century the Europeans developed a porcelain cleaning device for contraceptive and purgative (cathartic) uses, which was called a bidet for its shape resembled those ponies.
Over time, its use has evolved more into a personal cleansing method, paralleling the improved sanitation and the heightened sense of personal hygiene in the modern world.
For several decades now, bidet has been a welcome addition to the bathroom culture of Europeans and Asians.

WHO USES A BIDET....
Its use had initially been limited to a small faction of people mainly because it involved installing another toilet-resembling unit in the bathroom, which basically meant that space, plumbing, and most of all, the cost became the limiting factors in widespread use. The practice of using a bidet however, is now very much ubiquitous in Europe and Asia, which can partly be attributed to new product developments that eliminated such limiting factors.
In the U.S., bidet is not yet common, and it has been receiving slow but warm reception.
One may recall a humorous scene in the Hollywood movie "Dumb and Dumber" where a bidet was mistaken for a toilet by one of the not-so-bright main characters. But bathroom humor aside, bidet has long been implemented in many luxury hotels and many of the clients go on to installing them at home as well.

HOW IT WORKS....
Our products are designed to be installed onto the existing toilet using a few tools.
When the user is ready to finish up in the bathroom, a simple turn of the knob will initiate a stream of water.
The stream can be controlled, and is aimed to cleanse the genito-anal region of the user while still remaining seated on the toilet. This is far thorough cleaning, making it more hygienic. It is also far superior over the conventional bidets because it does not require the additional space to install, but best of all, it allows the user to remain seated instead of having to move over to sit on the bidet after finishing on the toilet.
It is intuitive that because of the anatomy of the area, using a dry toilet paper to clean is inevitably going to leave residues, leaving the area prone for bacterial growth and infections.
As a testament of one of the benefits of water over the paper use, in cultures where water cleansing is traditionally the preferred practice, such as in Indonesia, Middle Eastern or South-West Asian countries, hemorrhoids are occur with much less frequency than others.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING BIDET....
Throughout history of ancient Asia, a way to healthful longevity was through addressing the three basic most physiologic needs of humans: adequate sleep, healthy diet and healthy, regular bowel/bladder habits. Though they are all essential, the last criterion is especially notable for us in the modern society because more and more of major illnesses in adults are being recognized as gastrointestinal and genito-urinary related. Hemorrhoids, constipation, gastrointestinal cancers, prostatitis, urinary tract infections, and gynecologic problems are all too commonly seen.
As a medical doctor in Japan who specializes in healthy living and longevity, Dr. Morita Genzo believes that lot of the illnesses and infections may simply be prevented by the habit of cleansing the ano-gential (genito-anal) area with warm water after having bowel movements. It also aids in blood circulation and physiologic rhythm, contributing further to a healthier life-style.
